The Earl and Countess of Derby extend a warm welcome to all visitors for the annual public open week at Knowsley Hall in October 2024. This exclusive event provides a unique opportunity for guests to enjoy a guided tour of one of Merseyside’s best-kept treasures.
There will be two tours available at 10:30am and 14:30pm on Monday 14th October.
Each tour will last approximately 1 ½ hours and will finish with refreshments to include, tea, coffee and biscuits. There will be an opportunity to ask questions and purchase memorabilia. For an extra treat, book a Knowsley Afternoon Tea for £27 per person served after the morning tour or before the afternoon tour.
This year’s special exhibition will feature paintings of the Derby Women through the centuries. Explore the captivating stories behind the family’s iconic women, such as Lady Margaret Beaufort, who married the 1st Earl. She had been married previously to the Earl of Richmond and had a son, Henry Tudor, who later became Henry VII. Discover the legacy of Charlotte de La Trémoille, the renowned wife of the 7th Earl, and relive her courageous defense of Lathom House during a parliamentary siege in 1644. Learn about Eliza Farren, the second wife of the 12th Earl, who achieved fame as a celebrated comic actress, earning her own position and status.
This is a rare opportunity for interested visitors and art enthusiasts, both local and from afar, to experience the rich history of one of Merseyside’s most iconic country houses. Join us this autumn for a memorable tour.
